Red Sox tickets to go on sale Dec. 13 First opportunity for purchase will be online; first Yard Sale set

BOSTON — The first chance to purchase 2009 tickets for Red Sox home games will be just a click away, beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Dec. 13 at www.redsox.com. It is then that Sox fans will be able to get Fenway Park tickets for select games in ‘09 in one of two ways.

The more expansive option is the popular Sox Pax, a four-game ticket package that has a variety of seat options. The Red Sox are offering 10 different packages.

The latter opportunity is by choosing single-game tickets from a choice of 15 dates in April and May.

The single games that will be available include the Rays games on April 8 and 9, the Orioles games on April 17, 18 and 19, the Twins games on April 21 and 22, the Indians games on May 6 and 7, the Rays games on May 8, 9 and 10 and the games against the Blue Jays on May 19, 20 and 21.

Fans can purchase a maximum of eight tickets from the single-game sales with any combination of games.

As for Sox Pax sales, there is a limit of two packages per customer of up to four tickets per package, for a total of 32 tickets.

The first available Sox Pax features Opening Day (April 6 vs. the Rays). All 10 packages have at least one game against the Rays or Yankees, and three of the packages have games against both American League East foes.

Tickets for all other home games will become available at a later date.

Fans looking for a chance to purchase their tickets at Fenway on Dec. 13 must enter an online drawing to gain entry to the sixth annual Christmas at Fenway.

In addition, the first Great Fenway Park Yard Sale will take place Dec. 14 from 10 am to 5 p.m. It is at this unique event in which fans can purchase cherished keepsakes and holiday presents. Included are authentic Fenway Park bricks and signage along with other items such as game-worn paraphernalia, game programs and other miscellaneous items. One perk of attending the yard sale is that those fans will be given a unique online code that will guarantee them the ability to purchase tickets for the 2009 season online at www.redsox.com.

Registration for Christmas at Fenway and the Yard Sale will take place from Wednesday at noon until noon on Monday at www.redsox.com. Fans must register for each event individually, and selections will be made separately for Saturday and Sunday event admittance. However, a selection of Yard Sale items will be available for sale on Saturday for fans selected to attend Christmas at Fenway.

The attendees will be selected and contacted from a pool of registrants, and winners will be invited to come to Fenway during a selected time frame. Each winner will be sent an e-mail confirmation, which includes their pre-selected arrival time. This confirmation must be presented at check-in with a photo ID for admittance to Fenway Park.

The Red Sox announced last month that all tickets for 2009 home games will stay at the same prices they were in ‘08.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim certainly have the Red Sox’s number this year.  To make matters worse, Angels pitcher has a no-hitter going on the Red Sox through 8 innings.  Lackey has walked one Red Sox.  Angels lead 6-0.

Update: Dustin Pedroia broke up the no-no with a single to left, then Kevin Youkilis broke up the shut out with a two run home run.  Still, the Angels are looking to make it seven straight victories over the Sox.
